Jasper House National Historic Site While this abandoned fur trading post is inaccessible because of the Athabasca River, it is visible from a viewpoint and interpretive site just off the Yellowhead Highway. This historic site was moved in 1829 from Brule Lake to its current location. This caused a decrease in use of the shelter, eventually resulting in its closing and abandonment. Today, Jasper House stands as a symbol of the west's fur trading past. Address: 35 km east of Jasper, off Yellowhead Highway #16 AB CA
