    Curly Philips Boathouse
    This boathouse, located directly on Maligne Lake, is a registered historic building that was one of Jasper National Park’s first outdoor outfitters. Outfitter and guide Curly Philips used this boathouse as a base for fishing trips and other excursions. Visitors today will find an array of supplies and items needed to explore Maligne Lake including canoes and kayaks that are available for rent.

    The Moore Home
    Built in 1907, the Moore Home was originally located at 467 Banff Ave. The home was donated to Catherine Whyte in 1971 and is now part of the historic homes collection of the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies.

    Lineham Discovery Well National Historic Site
    This site honours the first successful oil extraction in Western Canada, which took place in 1902. Visitors can explore antique drilling equipment and the remains of the Oil City boomtown. The site is located near Cameron Lake.

    Jasper Park Information Centre National Historic Site
    Completed in 1914, this building is an example of rustic architecture found in many of Canada’s national parks. Made of cobblestone and timber, this historic site is a major information centre for Jasper. A gift shop is located on site.

    Bankhead
    An historic site of an early 1900's coal mine, colliery and town. An easy 45minute walk leads through the ruins of the mine site. Interpretative plaques bear photographs and descriptions of the buildings and the operations of the mine.

    Nordegg Heritage Centre
    Once Canada's largest producer of coal briquettes, this national historic site chronicles the history of the area's mining community circa the early 1900s. Pictures and artifacts depicting the community are on display at the centre's museum. Free. There's also a gift shop and cafe on-site. May 11 to Sept 29, daily 9 am - 5 pm, free. Tours of the Brazeau Collieries leave from the centre daily. Short tour starts at 10 am and runs approx. 1 1/2 (hours) $4 adults, children under 12 free.     Howse Pass
    Located on the border between British Columbia and Alberta, Howse Pass is now a National Historic Site of Canada. Though this pass was established by David Thompson in 1807, it was named after Joseph Howse, a Hudson's Bay Company employee who first crossed in 1809.

    Old Fort Point
    Near the site of an early fur brigade post, this area is the starting point for a number of hiking trails. Try the loop to Lac 13cauvert or the 17 km (10.6 mi) trip to the Valley of the Five Lakes.

    Abbot Pass Hut
    Recognized for both its location and design, this delightful stone cabin sits atop the wind-swept crest of Abbot Pass. Built in 1922 at an altitude of 2,925 m (9,598 ft), it is second only to the Neil Colgan hut as the highest permanent structure in Canada. Abbot Pass Hut is a National Historic Site of Canada.

    Prince of Wales Hotel National Historic Site
    The area surrounding the picturesque Prince of Wales Hotel was designated a National Historic Site in 1995. Visitors are intrigued by the grand hotel itself and the stunning view that its perch above the Upper Waterton Lake allows.

    Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site
    The North West Company and the rival Hudson's Bay Company both erected fur trading posts in this area as early as 1799. Site encompasses the archaeological remains of four forts built between 1799 and 1875.

    Sanson's Peak
    After a breathtaking ride up the Banff Gondola, or a moderate 5.3 km (3.2 mi) hike, walk the 1 km (.6 mi) boardwalk up to Sanson Peak Cosmic Ray Station. A National Historic Site, this stone cabin was the first meteorologist station in this area.

    Columbia Icefield Visitors' Centre
    Opened in May 1996, the new Icefield Centre is a beautiful chalet-style stone building created to serve half a million visitors every year. This facility is of an environmentally sensitive design. Relax in the dining room, the cafeteria or the snack bar, visit the expanded gift shop, and stop by the new and expanded Parks Canada Interpretive Centre. Improved parking and restroom facilities have been added for comfort and convenience. This is also the base for the Brewster Ice Explorer tour onto the Columbia glacier.

    Cave and Basin Centennial Centre
    Visitors can walk into the Cave, view the intact basin and learn the fascinating story of the springs discovery. Historical exhibits, geological displays and videos tell the park's history. Short self-guided walks explore the effect of heated spring water on the surrounding marshes and the environment. Tours available, call for details.

    Luxton Home and Garden
    Built in 1905, the Luxton Home is an example of a Banff pioneer home. The residence houses numerous collections including Stoney artifacts, and household items and clothing that date back to the 1900s. Credited as being one of Banff’s first flower gardens, the grounds are surrounded by a garden that blooms throughout the summer. Regular tours of the home and garden are available throughout the summer with off-season tours requiring appointment.

    Jasper House National Historic Site
    While this abandoned fur trading post is inaccessible because of the Athabasca River, it is visible from a viewpoint and interpretive site just off the Yellowhead Highway. This historic site was moved in 1829 from Brule Lake to its current location. This caused a decrease in use of the shelter, eventually resulting in its closing and abandonment. Today, Jasper House stands as a symbol of the west's fur trading past.
